It Came From The Porch : Causeway

Cane-pole fishing! They weren't catching much, just kinda hanging out, drinking some beer. Talked with them for a few minutes, talked about the fish, or lack thereof. Relaxing.

That's I-10 in the background, the Bayway. Use it if you're in a hurry, but I'm usually not. I don't like it. If something happens, there's nowhere to go, except down to the Causeway twenty feet below or the water, which is only three feet deep. A few years ago there was a twenty-something car pileup. One dude jumped off to avoid a car and got hit on the Causeway below!! It made national headlines, got on CNN. Frankly, I don't WANT to be on CNN!

There are public landings scattered up and down the Causeway, offering access into the delta and the bay. That could be my dad when I was growing up, except our boat was a LOT smaller, and the truck was a widebed, not an SUV.

Those two guys wanted to know something about the boat, I don't remember what. They all chatted for a few minutes while I walked around em and took pictures. They didn't seem to mind.
