I found myself adding some more of my thoughts on leukemia to the About Me section. There's now enough stuff there to merit its own sub-section, so ladies and gentlemen (and members of the audience) allow me to direct you to Leukemiatic Thoughts.
12 April 1999:
Got back from the doctor's, they say my blood levels are fine. Yay.
I've got something for ya'll to read. I don't like this piece. Parts of it make me angry (for reasons I will not go into - and Tanya, if you go off on some kind of self-disparaging rant I will kick your skinny little ass) and parts of it make me want to rail and curse. But it definitely is part of what's going on right now, and therefore it belongs here. This is on Tanya's site, UpWrite, where she does her own web thing. She is helping me immensely throughout this whole damn process, and has things to say of her own.
You probably need to understand just what she's doing for me before you read this. She offered, even before we started dating (we're on hiatus right now) to be my primary caregiver during this procedure.
This is not something I would wish on ANYONE.
It means that she takes care of me when I'm sick, and that includes all the nasty little elements I won't go into here. Sick people, very sick people, are not pretty. They don't smell nice. They make messes. And they can't get out of bed to clean them up themselves.
She has been handling all the details that I simply cannot seem to make myself take care of. Doctor's appointments, dentist's appointments, insurance crap, leukemia foundation crap, etc etc ad nauseum. Running interference for my goddamn parents, who give me the screaming heebie-jeebies almost every time I talk to them about this stuff.
During all this, she is putting up with me smoking, drinking, sleeping with other women, skipping my medication, blah blah blah, so on and so forth.
Why the hell is she doing this?
You got me, brothers and sisters, you got me.
She has some stuff of her own to say about it, so go and read it, and get another's viewpoint on this fucking mess.
