Wahoo! Networked to the house LAN! One Mac, two PCs and all just chattin' away. Can you say Quake? I knew you could. Wirin' the Porch! I have been a distracted kid lately. Scatterbrained at work and not on top of my hobby/freelance commitments. I've got two websites to develop and a bunch of little things to do. These only barely fall under the category of freelance work, since I don't actually do it for money. Instead, I gain access to two darkrooms (one color!), I'm helping some friends out, and I'm part of what I think is a very good effort at encouraging artistic photography in Mobile. But it's hard to stay on top of stuff when all I want to do at the end of the day is crash. I really am excited about doing the work, but I'm having a hard time maintaining the energy necessary to do the job I want to do. But I'm not giving up yet. Christmas party at Shelly's house last night. Pretty mellow time, but hey! there were about 50% more guys than girls. What up with that? I think the high point of the evening had to be Sid and Amy's decoration of the Christmas tree. Shelley didn't have much in the way of ornaments, so Sid and Amy combed through the house and came up with some appropriate (and some not-so!) things to use as ornaments. The tree was... um.... well, here's some of the stuff that was on it:
And more that my mind seems to have blanked out in self-defense. Pigs in a blanket. Shelly actually made pigs in a blanket. Nick actually ATE pigs in a blanket. Quite a few of them, as I seem to recall. Rob consumed most of a fifth of Wild Turkey, with some help from Amy and assorted folks. Me? Well, I had two bourbon and cokes and then drank water for the rest of the night. Did I smoke? Um... uh... weeeeeell... yes. But Rob stopped me after a little bit, and I listened to him and didn't smoke anymore. Spent most of this afternoon fighting with my computer. I installed an ethernet card and my 'puter went kaput. After fighting with it for an hour or so, I finally realized that it was probably just a dead battery on the motherboard. Headed over to Radio Shack, grabbed a battery, came home, threw it in, powered up and voila! Happy Mac. Hell, that battery hasn't been replaced in four years. It was about time. Guess that's it for now. Take care kids, especially you, Lezlee! The sea is a jealous woman, and will always seek to test you when you least expect it. Or something like that. :) Be careful, we miss you. |
