26 February 1999:

Savannah Show at Savage Photo

Friday was the opening night of the Savannah College of Art photography show at Savage Photo. Got there right after work, around 5:15 and offered to help set up a little. Emily used my savage manliness to open the big tin of mixed nuts. Feel the testosterone flow... anyway, hung out and had a glass of wine with Stephen and Craig Stevens (prof from Savannah). The show was pretty damn good, with some excellent digital work. I envy them their output options... gimme an Iris! Had a good time. Went with Rob and Sid and Christy to Dreyton Place afterwords, had drinks and a cigar, some good food, a little jazz provided by Joe Lewis. Bass player named Joe Cherry, very instinctive, playing a short-scale Fender Mustang. Talked for a while with some folks off of a cruise ship that's docked here. French pastry chef and singer from Chicago.

1999 Addy Awards

The 1999 Addy Awards were saturday night, and yes, yours truly walked away with four of 'em. Well, I didn't actually walk... actually, I rather strongly suspect I was carried. I got carried away, I know that much. Agh, that's what happens when you know the bartender and he won't let you pay for your drinks. I think there's a natural law in there somewhere... if you've already spent the money you brought for alcohol (and you came well prepared), then you probably shouldn't continue to accept free drinks. Or at least I shouldn't.
Apparently, the folks at Denson/Reed got a kick out of it, cause when I got back from lunch today there were a bunch of pictures of me that I don't remember being taken. I was so thrilled to see evidence of my own ridiculous drunkeness that I thought I'd share em with you.

2 March 1999:

Went to Butch Cassidy's for dinner. Was talking with Les The Friendly Bartender, and he mentioned "There are lot of those communes around here." He was referring to the way we live in this house.
Worked a lot on the site today. Still don't have a name for it. It'll come.

3 March 1999:

Remember the good old days, when all you needed for romance was a van and some chloroform?

4 March 1999:

A snippet of conversation between Rob, Trey & Christy -

"There is no Bad Rob."
"There is only the Bad Rob!"
"Dammit, there IS NO BAD ROB!"
"Ok. There's the morally challenged Rob!"
"Grrrrrr..."
"Hehehehehe"

5 March 1999:

The jury's still out on whether there is, in fact, a Bad Rob, but one thing's for sure: it was the Good Rob in the house last night... when you got a sick digital camera, who ya gonna call? Ah, the mechanically inclined. He said something about a switch and coupling that had slipped... hell, for all I know, he waved his magic wand over it...

7 March 1999:

Went to the opening of Stephen Savage's photographic show at Springhill College. Wonderful work, all Holga shots. Bunch of folks came back to the house after for pizza and beer and whisky and cognac and... more here.
