It Came From The Porch : Journal Index

5 July 1999:

Just got back from a little trip out, listening to "Mercury Blues"...

"This goes to you people that like to cruise... I'm not talking about, you know, your 1990 cruisin' car, nothing like that... I guess that's acceptable - but it's not the same as sittin' back in your 1949 Mercury (yeah!) with the throttle pulled out - you know, that was sort of like the cruise control du'jour - you pull your throttle out, turn it so it's in that locked position, put your feet up on the dashboard with that can of Mug rootbeer between your legs... and you go cruisin'."

... and then my friend begins to wail! Gimme harmonica! Gimme slide guitar! :) Roy Rogers on slide guitar with Norton Buffalo on harp, in case yer curious.

"Hey there mama! Don't you know you're lookin' so fine? Let's cruise around in my Mercury '49... gonna buy you a Mercury baby, cruise up and down the road..."

Hehehehe, sorry, I get silly sometimes when good blues is a-blowin.

Random picture of Trey reaching for... uh... who the hell knows? He could be reaching for anything! Reaching out to you from Porch central (remote location)... reaching for... your hat! Your nose! Your firstborn! Your beautiful and firm, shapely, bouncing... tracts of land!

Anyway!

Headed over to CompUSA today to check out their Apple "Store Within A Store" and I'm happy to say that this CompUSA at least is keeping up their end of the deal. They had seven (count em!) iMacs up and running, all flavors and then some, two brand new (and FAST... goddamn) G3's and three PowerBooks. I found the cable I needed immediately, and they had tons of stuff there in translucent plastics for your Machead buying pleasure. None of the computers had trashed desktops, and they were actually connected to the Net with a high-speed connection. Amazing.

For our next musical selection: 25 or 6 to 4. :)

Went over to the Galleria and hit the music shoppe. Came away with Smashmouth's new one, a new Harry Connick Jr., and a Chicago greatest hits CD. I wanted "Chicago - Chicago" but no one had it on CD. I've got it on vinyl somewhere (foldout poster and everything, ain't flea markets great?) but who knows where...

So I got the modem cable I needed for this Sportster 56k I've got sitting around... and I brought the wrong damn power supply. Grrrr... looks like I'm gonna be 28.8 boy for a while yet.

I got a new mousepad... actually, it's more of a catpad. Now I've got a picture of Lilu on my desk all the time. Awwwww... I feel like such a doofus for missing her so badly, but I do and that's just all there is to it. :P

"Feeling like I ought to sleep... spinning room is sinking deep... searching for something to say... waiting for the break of day... 25 or 6 to 4..."

Does anybody actually know just what the hell this song is supposed to be about? Or does anybody really know what time it is? Or does anybody care, about time?

Hehehehehehe

(Actually, I head that Peter Cetera just made up nonsense lyrics to sing until they got some other ones, and the nonsense stuck)

Health update: well, I almost lost it and threw up in my hat when we first got into CompUSA... too many people, stomach too fluttery. Felt better after leaving the G3 on Dogwood's homepage, though. Felt good enough to shop in the ultimate pink of Victoria's Secret, ate a gyro in the food court. Still a little shaky, but not too bad. Yesterday wasn't too bad... they gave me the drugs that made me so sick the other day, but they've gotten the dosage rates right now, so I can handle it. Was all dopey all day yesterday, slept a lot.

Oh god! Hahahahahaha I totally forgot that "Colour My World" was a Chicago song... hehehe, I used to have an EP with M.O.D. doing that song... hahahahahaha sorry, hehehehehe oh gawd.

"Can you dig it? Yes I can..."
