Well, the liver biopsy wasn't all that bad. Kinda creepy, though. They went in through the jugular vein on the right side of my neck (one more scar!), down THROUGH my heart and then to my liver. I could feel the end of the wire poking around my liver, like a spider scampering across my internal organs... and then it bit me! Four times. Ick. The pain wasn't too bad. They don't really give you the drugs to stop the pain. It's more to relax you, so you don't totally freak out hat you're cold, mostly naked, with your face covered by chemical smelling cloth, and that people you've never met in your life are digging into your neck and sliding three feet worth of wire around down in your circulatory system. The drugs just make you feel calm, warm, relaxed and a little sad. It feels lonely under the blue antiseptic cover. We haven't gotten all the results back yet, but they said that the preliminary report did NOT indicate graft vs. host or a viral infection. Don't know what it could be if that's not the case. Perhaps alcohol, perhaps a reaction to the cyclosporin. I should have more detailed results tomorrow or the next day. |
